How to Make: Coffee for Two

Coffee spilling out of mug against white wall

We have been hearing from people who feel like our recipes are leaving out their love of making coffee not just for themselves, but for another person as well. We want to affirm that the pour over life is not just about the act of making a single, special cup for yourself, but includes making cups for 2 to be shared.

Here is a no-frills, simple recipe for two that works with any conical dripper.

What you need

  1. Pour 120 grams of water somewhat aggressively over the bed of coffee, ensuring that all of the coffee grounds get wet.

  2. At 30-35 seconds, do a steady, gentle pour in concentric circles up to 400 grams. Ensure that the colour of your coffee slurry is even.
  3. At 1:20, do another pour up to 520 grams.

  4. At 1:45-2:00 minutes, do a final pour up to 640 grams of water.

  5. Your brew should finish between 3:00 and 3:30.

  6. Stir, and pour into 2 of your favourite cups and enjoy!
